Party Decorations

I had a lot of fun making these decorations for Emily's birthday party, and all the girls at the party loved them. They all wanted to take one home, but unfortunately we only had three arrangements, and there were 12 girls, the division just wouldn't work. So they now sit on our kitchen table for us to enjoy... for now.

So here are the balloon arrangements. The pink/black dippy dots grosgrain have been used to decorate the pots which hold the balloons. I've added a step by step to making these party decorations to the ideas gallery at Ribbons Galore. It can be found HERE (once you are in the gallery, you have to click on the pictures to see the larger images).

Thank you to everyone who has commented and emailed over the last few days and left lovely birthday wishes for Emily. She certainly has had a lovely week!

Have fun!

happy birthday

I know I say it every year, but where has the year gone. I now have an 11 year old!!!

A few highlights below (from left to right)... Emily wanted a new 'side fringe' for her birthday, so here she is at the hairdressers the other day having her hair cut; the cup cakes went to school today (I know this is the third post in a row where I've mentioned my cup cakes); and of course, the present opening this morning...

We have had a very long day, today. Phoebe had to be delivered to school at 7.45 this morning to catch a bus to the zone athletics carnival, and of course Emily wanted to open her presents before all that, so we were all up and going at some ridiculous hour this morning. After school there was afternoon tea (and birthday cake) at Nana and Poppa's house, then on to Emily's last soccer training for the year. Finally we arrived home tonight at 8.00pm, all very tired, but happy and had toast for dinner (cause I couldn't think of anything else to 'cook')!!!

Bye for now....

naked cup cakes

They are cooked and ready for icing later this afternoon!! And I have the chocolate cake in the oven too for the birthday party. Oh, I love not having any deadlines!!!

Before you ask, those coloured bits in the cakes are m&m's, a special request from Emily. She didn't just want just plain cup cakes, they had to be cup cakes with m&m's mixed through!

quick catch up

I'm flying to Canberra tomorrow to work at the Craft Show from Thursday to Sunday. I met many lovely people last year at this show. If you're attending the show this year, drop by the Studio and say hello.

Here's a very pink layout for a Colour Theory article.

And lastly, before I continue (or should I say, start) packing for my trip tomorrow, thanks to everyone who visits here, and the lovely comments and emails left over the last few days about the Urban Lily projects.

I'll be back next week, if I don't see you in Canberra!!!

urban lily's sugar cube

And we have another Urban Lily project. Yet another little project I made last night when I really should have been packing for my Canberra trip this week.

Using Urban Lily papers from the Doodle Daisy collection again (the same ones as the invites below) AND the super cute Sugar Cube from Urban Lily.

I covered the sugar cube with papers, tied it up with ribbons from Ribbons Galore. I made the little mini book, which fits inside the sugar cube. The "live" circle is a new chipboard product from Urban Lily.

Thanks for looking.

new urban lily

Last night I made Emily's birthday party invites using some delicious new Urban Lily papers from the Doodle Daisy collection. This collection is so bright, happy and funky.

The design of the invites is very simple. I printed the details of the party inside the cards. The papers were trimmed to fit the front of the cards, I rounded the corners with a punch before gluing the papers in place. I added some bling to the flower motifs on all the papers. And wrote "you're invited" on the front on the cards somewhere with a white gel pen.

Emily's very happy with her invites, they have now been carefully placed in envelopes ready to be handed out at school.

Thanks for visiting.

I survived another Monday...

... and its taken me until Wednesday to write about it.

I was back in the classroom at Emily's school on Monday helping the kids finish their layouts, which we started last week (see last week's post). They didn't need much help. They had written their journalling through the week and were adding that to their layouts. Then we finished off with some punched shapes.

The teachers have now hung all the layouts on the wall outside the class room as a big collage. I'll have to pop back in some time to see them all hanging up.

All the kids did such a fantastic job with their layouts, as I said last time, it is so interesting to see all the different "styles" from the children.

Here's a photo I took of Emily at the end of the lesson this week with her layout...

Emily now seems to be arranging scrapbooking classes with all her friends, and she's advised me I'm the teacher!!!!

Have a good evening everyone.
